Abstract：Scanning electron microscope was used to observe the morphology and sensillar
types and distribution of antennal sensilla of Propylaea japonica. The results showed that
both male and female adults had clavated antenna, including three main antennal segments
(Scape, pedicel and flagellum with 9sub-segments). The average length of antennae of the female
Was slightly longer than that of the male Five sensillar types were observed: sensilla basiconca (
SB), sensilla chaetica (SC), sensilla trichodea (ST), Cavity sensilla (CaS), and
Bhm bristles (BB). Sensilla trichodea and sensilla basiconca were of the greatest number.
The number of antennal sensilla on the dorsal is longer than on ventral side of both sexes.
There was no significant difference in sensilla types and distribution between sexes. The number
Of antennal sensilla of female adults was larger than that of male adults.
