A field experiment was carried out to study the effects of nitrogen fertilizer with different kinds of nitrification inhibitors application on nitrogen uptake, yield and quality of cold shed celery. The tested three nitrifification inhibitors were 3,4-dimethylpyrazole phosphate (DMPP), chloro-6-trichloromethyl-pyridine (nitrapyrin, NP) and Dicyandiamide (DCD). The results showed that the nitrogen fertilizer and nitrifification inhibitors application could cause higher plant height to some extent, reduce the nitrate content in the celery, improve the yield and quality of celery, improve the nitrogen utilization effificiency and decrease the content of nitrate in the soil. Nitrogen fertilizer and nitrifification inhibitors application could promote growth rate of yield and height of celery increase by 2.75%- 4.24% and 4.98%-5.16%, respectively. The nitrogen utilization rate was increased to 14.85%-22.38%. Compared with the conventional treatment, nitrogen reduction fertilizer with nitrifification inhibitor can reduce the accumulationof nitrogen in the soil by 43.94%-72.89%, and the content of nitrate in the celery plants was decreased by 11.29%- 13.01% (stem), 33.67%-46.62% (leaf), and the soluble sugar, soluble protein, vitamin C and cellulose content in celery were also signifificantly improved. In conclusion, the nitrogen fertilizer with DCD application was better in improving nitrogen fertilizer utilization, reducing soil nitrogen accumulation and improving celery yield and quality in greenhouse celery.
